John Bruns
In March 2017, John traveled to Haiti for the first time with friends from another church and was immediately hooked. The next year he began leading trips from his home church, Georgetown Christian Church, Georgetown, Indiana. On their last trip in March 2020, they learned upon arrival back in the US that Haiti had documented their first two cases of COVID-19 and closed the border that day.
John is a 1976 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He earned an MS degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio (1984) and a Certificate of Christian Leadership from Louisville Bible College (2012). He is retired from the US Air Force Reserves and UPS.
John is married to Debbie, and they have five children and eight grandchildren. He is very involved in his church, leading the Galatians 6:10 ministry—a group that provides home repairs and builds handicap ramps for people in need. In addition to local projects, they recently traveled to western Kentucky to aid in tornado rebuilding.
