Pat Gunter

Pat’s first trip to Haiti began the day after she retired in the spring of 2013. She was part of a team from University Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina that went to work with teachers at Terre Noire. What began as an adventure quickly grew into a passion. After three trips with UPC, Pat began to involve her own church, Westminster Presbyterian in Durham, by organizing medical teams to work in the clinic in Cite Soleil. That congregation is now fully engaged in numerous ways and is excited to be part of this wonderful work.

Prior to retirement, Pat worked for Duke Health in the IT field, specifically in data management and process improvement. She is an elder and deacon in the Presbyterian Church, and she believes that God has called her to put her heart and energy into serving alongside the people of Haiti. She and her husband, John, have three sons and eight grandchildren. Pat heads up HOM’s economic development initiative.
