Robert (Bob) O’Brien
The day after retiring in 2004, Bob took his first trip to Haiti with his wife Flo Anne, and their church, Palms Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville Beach, FL, assisting in the construction of the first phase of the primary school at Terre Noire. Since that trip, Bob and Flo Anne have both been hooked on Haiti. Bob has made a number of trips to Haiti assisting Flo Anne in her responsibilities as HOM’s primary school support person, assisting the team installing the water system at Cite Soleil, and co-leading his church’s medical mission team.
After the 2010 earthquake, Bob was asked to lead the reconstruction of HOM facilities and is currently serving as HOM/MICECC’s Chief Engineer and Director of Construction. Bob was elected to the HOM Board in 2013.
Bob was ordained an elder in the Presbyterian church in 1975 and has served in five different churches in four states. He and Flo Anne have two grown children and four grandsons. Bob is using his expertise gained in over 36 years in the construction industry to provide guidance in building our facilities to earthquake and hurricane standards while also training our Haitian brothers and sisters in proper construction techniques
