Exciting Changes at Barye Fe School
Several years ago HOM was able to construct a kitchen on the Barye Fe secondary school campus, making it possible to serve a daily hot lunch meal to these students. However, one thing remained lacking: a designated seating area where students could sit and eat this meal. While the master plan for the Barye Fe campus includes the eventual construction of a dining hall & chapel, security conditions in Haiti have placed that project on hold. Thanks to our long-time food partner Rise Against Hunger, a wonderful interim solution has been developed. A lunch patio is being constructed that will consist of 36 tables with umbrelllas and benches, providing ample seating for the students to enjoy...
Spring 2025 Update
Despite the challenges facing Haiti today, over 1,000 people celebrated the resurrection of our Savior at the Christian Church in Terre Noire on Easter Sunday. The congregations at churches at Cite Soleil and Repatriote were also full as families gathered to worship and praise God.
December Update
Thank you! Over $20,000 was raised to provide food assistance during December’s Giving Tuesday campaign. A very special thanks to the people at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church for providing matching funds. These funds will help us provide lunches to our students, meals for our church families, and food supplies to those in need in our communities. The church in Cite Soleil was busy in December! Each Sunday a different church department led activities to celebrate the birth of our Savior ending with a collective wedding on the 3rd Sunday. Despite the challenges facing Haiti today, our schools are open, students are still learning and playing, patients are being cared for in the clinic, and...
Update on security situation in Haiti
The news coming out of Haiti has been hard to hear the past few weeks. We have been in contact with Leon Dorleans, who continues to be in the United States visiting churches, and Troy Sanon, the Executive Director of MICECC, who is in Haiti. Troy says, “Haiti has been tough. Yes, all the news you heard about Haiti is true. Moving around has been difficult in the country, and internet connection is very weak. Some of our programs are still in operation, such as the school and the MASTAS community health project in Repatriote. We face a lot of challenges, and we have a lot of restrictions. I am in constant contact with the team. Everyone is scared but very motivated despite the situation in...
Updates from the clinic, high school, and churches
After multiple delays, the expanded laboratory in the medical clinic is up and running! Having an on-site laboratory will allow for quicker results and greatly reduce the risk of misdiagnosis and delays in treatment, a win -win for everyone. The good news continues with an impressive 90% of our 13th grade students passing the required Haitian national exams! Given that the average passing rate is 45%, the success of our students is a testament to their hard work and to their teachers who encourage and inspire them. We are grateful for our sponsors who help pay for salaries, books and supplies, and hot lunches for our students. The leaders at the Christian Church in Cite Soleil are focusing...
September News
Great News! Our schools continue to uphold their reputation for success with an impressive 100% of the 9th grade students passing the required national exam. Although we are still waiting for the results of the 13th grade student exams, we anticipate equally impressive results. Preparing students for success through a quality education is the key to a better future for our young people. Haiti has one of the highest maternal infant death rates in the Western Hemisphere. To help change those statistics, HOM/MICECC partnered with Impact Global Health Alliance (formerly Curamericas ) to develop a maternal infant health program to educate and encourage expectant mothers to get the care they...

HOM and Haitian partner MICECC operate 3 primary schools and 1 secondary school providing a quality Christian education for over 1,900 students. Want to know how you can help? What’s happening at HOM this month?
July is VBS month on the HOM/MICECC campuses. 700 children are participating in Bible lessons, crafts, games and fellowship. In addition to learning and enjoying being with friends, each child receives a nutritious lunch each day. VBS is a wonderful activity for youth while our four schools are closed for summer break…
What a celebration!
The excitement was contagious at our 35th Anniversary celebration! It was a reunion as well as old friends greeted one another and reminisced about their time in Haiti. Walker Gaulding had the crowd laughing out loud sharing stories of young Leon and the beginnings of the ministry, while Pat Smith-Headley shared how they overcome the challenges of those early years in starting the sponsorship program…
Latest Update from HOM/MICECC Campuses
While the headlines coming out of Haiti continue to be sobering, our programs have had a relatively stable week. Our staff thankfully have remained safe. Here is an update on how things are going on the HOM/MICECC campuses: Schools: The three primary schools and the Barye Fe secondary school are all open and functioning, with attendance averaging around 93%. The majority of teachers have also been able to get to school. The schools will close next week for Easter break as scheduled, with classes expected to resume on April 1. Clinic: The clinic is open and operating. The number of patients has fluctuated between 60 and 95 per day. As some of the clinic personnel travel from other...
